Routed co-founder appointed as ISPA director

Malcolm Siegel, co-founder of Routed, South Africa’s only neutral cloud infrastructure provider, has been appointed to the board of The Internet Service Providers’ Association (ISPA). He previously served as an ISPA member since 2011, in a role within the INX working group management committee.

Siegel says he looks forward to a more direct involvement within the association, playing a more vital role in decision making and the overall management of the Association: “ISPA has influenced and shaped telecommunications policy in South Africa since 1996, and I am excited to be playing a more committed role in the association. Innovation within this sector is at an all-time high and I am really energised to be closer to the coalface.”

Outlining the key challenges moving forward, Siegel says that the regulation of voice termination rates; FTTH and how to deliver it cost effectively, cloud adoption and ways to speed up movement into the cloud, are some of the significant challenges faced by the industry.

“It’s an inspiring time for ISPA and its members.  The next five years should see some exceptional progress and innovation and I look forward to playing a pivotal role both within ISPA and also at Routed,” says Siegel.
