McCain Do Good Be Good Program benefits local Gauteng communities

Be Good, Do Good is at the heart of everything that McCain South Africa does. This led to the launch of their food donation programme in April 2017. Since then McCain Food South Africa has made it their mission to spread joy and happiness to those who need it most through food.

Over the course of 2017, McCain donated more than 400 cases of McCain frozen vegetables and potatoes to over 35 different homes for the elderly, orphanages and soup kitchens around Johannesburg. One of the first donations was to Othandweni Children’s Home in Soweto, home to over 90 children. The home offers these children a safe and loving environment and caters for their emotional, medical and educational needs. McCain also donated to the Delmas Old Age Home, which provides 24-hour care to the needy, frail, aged and disabled persons.

Many other organisations benefited from the McCain food donation programme last year, including the TLC Orphanage which places and adopts vulnerable young children and the Malaika Orphanage which gives care to young people living with HIV/Aids. The soup kitchen at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Braamfontein, who feed the homeless and destitute, feeding on average 150 people per day, and 200-300 people at their Monday night soup kitchen, was also a recipient of the donations.

“Lending a helping hand in nurturing the growth of the children who stay with us is only possible through the support we receive. I cannot express the appreciation and gratitude we have for McCain for supporting us, the food donations go such a long way,” says Jade Freedman, Manager of TLC Orphanage.

“At McCain, we strive to “Be Good and Do Good” – we believe that food brings so much joy to everyone, and we wanted to share our delicious products with those who need it the most.  We were delighted to be able to help the young children and the elderly with these food donations.  Through this campaign we hope to encourage others to join us in doing what they can to work towards creating a community of people who are focused on helping others – Do Good, Be Good!” says Deolinda Da Costa, Marketing Manager at McCain Foods South Africa.

McCain Food South Africa is the number one producer of frozen vegetables and potatoes in the country. McCain is focused on providing you with products that are both nutritious and delicious to accompany any meal.
