Beautiful News powered by Mercedes-Benz South Africa

From September to December 2017, Beautiful News South Africa, in conjunction with its proud sponsor Mercedes-Benz South Africa, will be screening short-films of ordinary South Africans doing extraordinary things, putting a positive spin on what it means to be South African.

The film viewing experience offers short videos to passengers, travellers and tourists as well as shoppers on-board Africa People Mover and Mango Airlines, as well screenings at the V&A Waterfront respectively, thereby extending its audience locally and internationally.

Commissioning Editor of Beautiful News South Africa, Anthony Hinrichsen says, “The short videos fit seamlessly with the calibre of content that this audience looks forward to and appreciates. Visual narrative is one of the most effective, informative and innovative media within a captive environment.”

In-transit: Africa People Mover (APM)

APM-tv is the entertainment channel on APM coaches throughout South Africa that aims to inspire hope and keep passengers entertained with wholesome family friendly material. The short-films’ impactful and visual appeal are perfectly suited to in-transit viewing, exposing lesser-known stories to more than 32 000 passengers passing through all nine provinces per month.

Inflight: Mango Airlines

Broadcasts of Beautiful News’ short-films on-board Mango Airlines will reach more than 300 000 passengers passing through seven national airports – Cape Town, Johannesburg, Lanseria, Durban, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and George, as well as international flights to Zanzibar. The short-films share powerful messages on-screen reflecting the actions and endeavours of ordinary citizens in an inclusive and engaging style.

“The multimedia format is highly visual and provides information and entertainment to a high-end traveller market,” says Hinrichsen. “We are proud to be aligned with the market leader in the South African domestic airline industry and presenting to this audience the extraordinary South Africans; with all their charm, humility and sincerity captured on film.”

In-store: The Victoria & Alfred (V&A) Waterfront

Shoppers and tourists visiting one of South Africa’s most popular tourist attractions, the V&A in Cape Town, can enjoy in-mall flighting. The short-films will also be screened at the Amphitheatre. The series of films cater to a wide audience, aligning seamlessly with the tastes and cultures of the V&A’s clientele.
