Toyota Fortuner 4×4 has enlisted the support of four prominent South African sports heroes for its 2017 version of the competition that enthused sports and motoring fans countrywide last year.
Mountain biking champion Bianca Haw, Dakar winner Giniel De Villiers, Springbok rugby star Oupa Mohoje, and obstacle course racing heroine Hanneke Dannhauser are urging South Africans to vote for them during Phase one of the Toyota Fortuner 4×4 Challenge.
Their messages asking for support are being aired on television, in print, on radio, in dealerships, on billboards as well as on the web and social media. Anyone who responds to one of the heroes’ appeals will be entered into a draw to win a Toyota Fortuner 4×4.

“Being given an opportunity to win a Toyota Fortuner is a good enough reason to enter a competition, it’s a great 4X4,” said FCB Africa Chief Creative Officer and one of the brains behind the campaign, Brett Morris.
“But, yes, the current campaign, as extensive as it is, is just the teaser element; sports and Toyota fans will have to wait for the real gutsy part of the Challenge to unfold.”
Phase two of the competition takes place in Knysna on 23 and 24 October, where the four stars will team up with fans and go head-to-head in challenges designed to test multiple capabilities.
“As South Africans, we are incredibly passionate about two things; sport and vehicles. Toyota has a long-running association with local sports and thus we felt that this campaign could effectively leverage the two passions of our nation,” said Toyota SA’s Senior Manager for Advertising & Digital Marketing Tasneem Lorgat.
“The Fortuner 4×4 Challenge provides the perfect opportunity to engage with our customers, whilst showcasing the skill and versatility of both our local ‘heroes’ and the super-capable Toyota Fortuner.”
Phase one of the competition, which encourages fans to back their hero, runs from 1 September to 22 October 2017 . The TVCs driving entries are just 15 seconds long, but each of the four punchy executions showcases the heroes’ talents.
