Anticipating an exceptionally busy year with its strong portfolio of brands, as well as embracing a more aggressive new business strategy this year than last, RAPT Creative has appointed Sanché van Rensburg as Group Executive Creative Director.
Van Rensburg, who leaves Avatar where, as Executive Creative Director, she directed all creative and digital operations across the agency’s three offices, will assume similar responsibilities for RAPT Creative’s homes from Johannesburg, where she will be based.
RAPT Creative Managing Director, Garreth van Vuuren, is delighted to add another strong female to the agency’s leadership team.
According to him, van Rensburg’s formal industry training and employment, in combination with her enduring interest in the visual arts and hands-on experience in South Africa’s dynamic fashion industry, have equipped her with a deep appreciation for how culture influences human behaviour and connection with brands.
“A graduate of both the National School of the Arts and the AAA School of Advertising, and the founder of a clothing brand, Sanché has proven over and over again that her artistic brain is just as agile and adept at solving business problems,” said van Vuuren.
“In addition, her varied and lengthy ‘apprenticeship’ for many, many brands over her years at South Africa’s leading agencies – including GRID/TBWA, McCann and Grey – has given her detailed insights into, and a unique perspective of, the best practices agencies use to benefit their clients.
“More recently, she’s built a strong grounding in digital and its application when it comes to brand communication. “We’re looking forward to watching her utilise these experiences and insights to assist us to develop long-term strategies that entrench our clients in the minds of their consumers.
“And, our younger staff members are excited about being mentored by Sanché, it’s a passion of hers and a task we’ve asked her to prioritise.”
A multiple award-winning creative across a wide spectrum of disciplines including advertising, design, art direction and fashion, van Rensburg has been part of the creative teams at Avatar, Grid, Mr Price Apparel, McCann, The Jupiter Drawing Room, TBWA\HUNT\LASCARIS and MetropolitanRepublic among others locally and Hirshorn Zuckerman Design Group in New York and the Reflex Group in Paris internationally.
Brands she has worked on included Absa, Alexander Forbes, Antalis, BCX, Black Label, Distell, Edcon/Edgars, Discovery Health, FNB, Kauai/Real Foods, KFC, Lexus, L’Oréal, Marble, Mastercard, Maybelline, Moët & Chandon, MTN, Nedbank, Nestlé, NetFlorist, Nike, Nissan, Opera House, Qatar Tourism, Sandton City, Standard Bank, Steers, St Dupont, Telkom, Thierry Mugler, Transnet, The Vega School of Advertising, Waltons and Woolworths.
