black launches One-Time-Pin verification for android

No email, no problem.  Consumers can now sign up for SA’s premium TV entertainment service black, using their mobile numbers. Consumers simply need to enter their mobile number and a one-time-pin (OTP) will be sent to customers to complete the registration process.

“Customers were previously requested to use an email address to sign up for blackThis prevented customers who did not have an email address from signing up. We have made the product ubiquitous by introducing OTP verification to make it accessible to everyone,” says Precious Nkabinde, PR Manager black.

In 2017 research by World Wide Worx found that of the 21 million internet users in South Africa, the vast majority accessed it on mobile. When black launched in 2017, it became the first entertainment service provider in South Africa to cater for the mobile market by allowing subscribers to purchase content using prepaid airtime, in addition to debit and credit cards.  The introduction of a mobile-friendly registration process further enhances the user journey for mobile subscribers.

Consumers are encouraged to take advantage of the new registration process and black festive special before the end of December.  black’s Binge Elite package is available for R89 per month – down from R449 until 31 December 2018. The special price is valid for 12 months from the moment users sign up. Binge Elite features a variety of series, music, movies, TV shows, and documentaries combined with over 60 linear TV channels including 8 FOX channels, and FOX on-demand content.

Cell C subscribers will further receive the additional benefit of free unlimited black data until February 2019. Those who take-up Cell C’s MediaPlay contract can expect access to black, unlimited free black data to stream their favourite shows, data bundles, airtime and SMS options all in one convenient bill.

black is available on all networks. Customers can access the platform through www.black.co.za  and Google Play (GET black).
